In October, Platinum Guild International USA hosted a select group of jewelry retailers and manufacturers on a 10-day “platinum experience” trip to South Africa.
Included in the platinum adventure was a visit to the Anglo platinum mine which showed them first hand the intensive labor that goes into platinum’s production and mining. They also enjoyed a cultural experience at a South African winery and then they were able to watch the South African Rugby Team take home the world championship. To truly embrace the South African culture PGI took their guests to a luxurious game reserve where they experienced a South African Safari, including a “Boma Dinner” – a South African barbeque with a roaring fire and African singers.
“The Platinum Guild International USA trip to South Africa was both inspiring and life altering for us,” said Kathy and Jeff Corey of Day’s Jewelers. “Stepping into a world with a beautiful blend of cultures, incredible scenic views and magnificent natural resources, we were in awe almost every minute of this adventure. We returned with a greater appreciation of our industry and the intricacies of platinum mining and most of all with fond memories of special friendships we created in South Africa and with our colleagues who accompanied us.”
“PGI’S trip took us to so many amazing places and we all fell in love with this country. The group which was very varied turned out to be so much fun, I did not know most of the guests and came back from this trip with great new friends,” added Myriam Gumuchian of Gumuchian.
