OneService, the jewelry industry’s provider of insured express shipping, was acquired on Feb. 1 by Group 4 Securicor, the world’s second largest international security solutions group. The acquisition creates one of the most expansive shipping networks in the jewelry industry, providing end-to-end transit solutions from $1 to $200 million.
Group 4 Securicor, based in London, operates in over 100 countries throughout the world and employs over 340,000 people. It is a market leader in the provision of manned security, security systems, armored vehicle transportation, and international valuables transport. OneService will integrate into Group 4 Securicor’s international valuables transport business, SIVT, as part of that division’s strategic entry into the diamond and jewelry sector. OneService, based in El Segundo, Calif., specializes in insured express jewelry shipments and operates in six countries with offices in the key jewelry markets of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, Istanbul, and Antwerp.
“We are pleased to have concluded this transaction and to retain the expertise of the key people within the business,” said Lars Norby Johansen, Chief Executive of Group 4 Securicor. “This acquisition will enable us to expand our market share in the transportation of valuables and will provide a single source for customers to fulfill their high value international transportation requirements.”
The acquisition of OneService is consistent with SIVT’s strategy of expanding its market share in the diamond and jewelry sector.
“This is a strategic acquisition for our company and our clients. As we map out the integration of OneService and SIVT, it is clear our clients will benefit greatly from access to a wider range of products and a larger global network,” OneService President Scott Eschleman said.
