Official Timepiece of LA Philharmonic

Breguet, the 232-year-old Swiss luxury watch, launched its role as official timepiece of the Los Angeles Philharmonic on Oct. 4 by sponsoring the opening night gala for the 2007/2008 season, starring performances by renowned soprano Renée Fleming (pictured with actor Jack Nicholson) and the Philharmonic, led by music director Esa Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Among several hundred guests were members of the Hollywood community, including Nicholson, Diane Keaton, Laurence Fishburne, Cybill Shepherd, Michael Eisner, and Sherry Lansing; officials of Swatch Group, which owns Breguet; and Los Angeles County supervisors.

Nicolas G. Hayek Sr., chief executive officer of Montres Breguet SA and Swatch Group chairman, cited “the magnificent synergy and mutual admiration between the world-class musical artistry of performers of the Philharmonic and the master watchmaking of our Breguet artisans in Switzerland.”

The gala’s theme, “Music is timeless,” provided the venue for debut of Breguet’s “Les Glycines,” and “Marie-Antoinette Fleur” collections. Funds raised at the gala support the Musicians Pension Fund and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association’s works, including educational and community outreach programs.
