NYPD Tries to Capture Serial Thief

The New York Police Department is trying to identify a suspect in connection with a string of jewelry store robberies where he uses a hammer to smash the display cases in jewelry stores, grabs the merchandise, and then flees the scene with the stolen jewelry.

WABC in New York has a picture of the suspect and a news story about his robbery spree.

The suspect is described as a male Black or Hispanic, he is approximately 5’8″ to 5’10” tall, with a medium build. His most recent robbery was reportedly on June 7.

He struck at least eight times in New York City (four times in Manhattan and four times in Queens), police reportedly said. He always enters a store with another man.

The Jewelers’ Security Alliance also issued a warning and description of the suspect, through its “Crime Alert” electronic newsletter.
