Nordstrom singled out jewelry as a “top-performing
merchandise category” in the first quarter of 2011, it announced May 12.
Top performing regions were the South and Midwest, it added.
Other highlights of Nordstrom’s financial results for the
first quarter (ended April 30):
- Net earnings: $145 million, up 24 percent.
- Net sales: $2.23 billion, up 12 percent
- Same store sales: Up 6.5 percent

The company also announced it was appointing Michelle M.
