Nishit Parikh Elected AWDC President



The board of directors of the Antwerp World
Diamond Centre has elected Nishit Parikh to serve as AWDC president for a two-year
term. Parikh will be the first person of Indian origin to head the organization.
He succeeds Jacky Roth.

Parikh, one of six of the AWDC’s 12-person board of directors to be elected by
direct election June 16, is serving a second term as a director. He was first elected in 2006. He heads Diarough, a De Beers
sightholder that cuts and polishes diamonds in Botswana, Canada, India, South
Africa, and Thailand.

The board also elected two vice presidents, Philippe
Barsamian, a representative of the Antwerp diamond bourses, and Stéphane
Fischler, who represents the manufacturers’ associations.
