Don Lemp Jr., president of M. Lemp Jewelers, was named outstanding volunteer fundraiser by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
For the past eight years, Lemp has run a golf tournament, “The 100 Holes 4 Kids,” that has raised nearly $600,000 for the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center. Only 24 golfers participate and each golfer is tasked with raising a minimum of $1,500 in sponsorship. The golfers usually end up raising an average of $2,700, a testament to Lemp’s persistent encouragement.
M. Lemp Jewelers is a 121-year-old, fourth-generation jewelry company located in downtown Syracuse, N.Y.
