NCDIA first fashion show showcased natural colored diamonds

The first Natural Beauty fashion show under the Natural Color Diamond Association (NCDIA) umbrella, geared toward the fashion press, was held on July 6 in Antwerp.

The Natural Beauty Fashion Show initiative was taken by Rosy Blue (Belgium) and Kashikey (Japan), with additional support from MWI (USA) and Krieger Fine Jewellery (Germany).

The fashion show showcased new collections of eight international jewelers and designers.

Former Miss World, Diana Hayden, opened the show with the Tamarine necklace by Rosiblu USA (Rosy Blue’s flagship brand)–a fancy yellow, brown, and pink diamond rainbow in all fancy shapes–and leading designer, Dries Van Noten’s Summer Collection.

The Glaze of Cognac suite staged Krieger’s designs, using mainly fancy yellows, browns and orangish browns; and Jennifer Phelps Montgomery’s designs for MWI in shades of cognac, wheat, pastel yellows and pinks.

The Dash of Cinnamon Suite was a potpourri of tints from Europe and the Middle East: Tamara Comolli’s reversible Capuccino Cross (Germany), Mouawad’s white and brown briolette set in preview of DTC’s Nature’s Miracle Contest (Switzerland), Roberto Coin’s multicolor diamonds sets (Italy), and Disegno Emme’s theatrical and artistic pieces uniting all natural elements with colored diamonds (Italy-UAE).

The two last suites, Tints of Brown and Champagne Bubbles presented respectively Kashikey’s Brown Collection (Japan), covering all shades of brown from pastel hues to deep cognacs, combined with Dries Van Noten’s Smoke collection; and Rosiblu’s new Circles Colored Diamond Collection combined with the delicate gowns of Vera Wang, prestigious US bridal gown designer and Rosy Blue’s licensing partner.

The grand finale in Vera Wang’s majestic wedding gown and Rosiblu’s Circles Colored Diamond tiara, blended white and colors in bridal.

“This event, which will be staged again next year, is to promote natural colored diamonds from pastel to fancy vivid as a fashion statement,” said Dilip Mehta, president and CEO, Rosy Blue and NCDIA vice-president, “They are valuable and trendy, they can be fun and classy… align them, mix them with whites, match them with your clothes… The combinations are endless.”

NCDIA was set up earlier this year to promote the beauty and value of natural color diamonds. The organization and made a splash on the red carpet at its launch during 2004 Oscar week, with Randi Rahm’s amber diamond dress worn by E! reporter Maria Menounos and pink diamond dress, worn by actress Vivica Fox.

Linda Stark, vice president of Design, Rosy Blue Fine, said she is confident about the future of colors and is excited to offer her new line of natural colored diamond jewelry under the Rosiblu brand.

“The colored diamonds add allure and intrigue, offering depth and mystery not found in other stones,” she said. “Looking closely reveals many different shades and tonalities. Their cache lies in their rarity.”
