Designer Nadine Aysoy Bows New Catena Collection

One of many jewelry designers who planned to unveil an exciting new collection during Las Vegas Jewelry Week, London-based Nadine Aysoy isn’t letting the lack of in-person exposure take the wind out of her sails. Or sales, as it were.

Because her new Catena collection, with its satiny gold links, is off to a running start, having just debuted on the luxury retail site Matches Fashion.

“This is everyday wear—the chain links within the jewelry pieces are entirely flexible making them adapt to the wearer,” says Aysoy, a former investment banker who founded her fine jewelry line in 2017.

Born in Belgium, she hails from a family of highly regarded diamantaires n Antwerp, including her grandfather, P.N. Ferstenberg, who was once honored with with the title of Dean of the Diamond Industry by the Belgian government.

But Aysoy’s jewelry, while incorporating plenty of diamonds, also revels in colored gemstones, reimagining traditional design elements as something playful and modern, with rich textures and lusters. The new collection is no exception.

“Catena has come about to appeal to a younger market and has been described as a nod to the 1970s and incredibly contemporary and trendy—so perhaps it is a blend of all three,” says Aysoy. “I designed the collection to stay true to my ethos, which is to create beautiful fine jewelry that is timeless and wearable. I can’t wait to see how my customers interpret the designs in their own unique ways.”

As for the Matches hookup, the U.K.-based retailer was a natural fit. “Living in London and being a client of Matches, it was always my dream to be part of such an elegant and fashion-forward store with an international outreach,” says Aysoy. “I was introduced to the jewelry buyer through my sales rep just before the pandemic in January. I was very touched with the positive reaction and worked very hard to create a more casual collection that would appeal to a trendy yet sophisticated and chic clientele.”

Next up: A trunk show on Moda Operandi that’s expected to go live in September.

Gigi Hadid’s stylist is already a fan of Catena, and Aysoy says we should be on the lookout for a music video from “the largest female pop singer who is currently pregnant, who is wearing two of our Tsarina pieces.

Hmm. Sounds like someone who has “Never Worn White.”

Catena was very well-received in Los Angeles, so more celebrity appearances seem imminent. When the movie premieres and awards shows pick back up, surely any of the the pieces below would be a welcome sight on the red carpet. Paging Florence Pugh…
