Million-dollar watches sparkle at Basel 2006

The saying “Time is money” is literally true at Basel 2006 where not one but two $1 million wristwatches are on display.

Luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co., headquartered in New York City, offered a stunning $1 million all-diamond tourbillon watch, with 24 time zones, in a limited edition of six. The Swiss-made timepiece bears 30 cts. of diamonds, each a special cut, which take three months per watch to set.

Black pearl producer Robert Wan presented The Pearl, the first-ever pearl watch, with mother of pearl dial. It took 18 months to create and is set with two 13mm pearls of gemstone quality, plus diamonds and sapphires. It comes in a limited edition of 10, with a pearl necklace, ring and earrings.
