A wide array of tiny limited-edition studs is Melissa Joy Manning’s latest big idea. The Berkeley, Calif.–based jewelry designer debuted 44 new SKUs in sterling silver and 14k gold in March, featuring largely one-off rough cuts of sapphire, tourmaline, topaz, quartz crystal, ruby, garnet, aquamarine, sunstone, labradorite, moonstone, and more. The inspiration for the offerings is spring flowers, evident in the colors and textures of the stones, some clutched by MJM’s signature wraparound hug prongs, bezel settings, or stick cuts that teeter through metal belly bands. A buy-in doesn’t currently exist. Retail prices start at $150, and styles will start shipping to stores at the end of the month.
