There was good news all around from mass-market department
stores, which all showed same-store sales growth for November:

– JCPenney was among the best, showing a 9.2 percent leap
in same-store sales.

– Macy’s and Kohl’s both showed 6.1 percent increases.

– Target showed a smaller but still impressive 5.1 percent
leap.

Higher-end stores Saks and Nordstrom, which announced
their sales earlier in the week, also showed increases, with both singling
out jewelry as a strong seller.
