Man Arrested for Shooting Through Jeweler’s Window

Hollywood, Fla., police arrested a man after he shot through a jewelry store display case and stole $18,214 in merchandise Jan. 19.
 
According to the police report, around 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 19, Brian Kirksey allegedly fired six rounds through the front window of Mindbender Jewelry, just as two employees were getting ready to open the store. As he was firing, the shooter used his hand to punch the window through so he could grab the jewelry.


 
Kirskey was said to have fled the scene on foot and discarded his firearm in an alley as several witnesses gave chase. During his attempted escape, he entered a residence occupied by a woman and her dog.
 
The man fled the home and was apprehended nearby. Police recovered the firearm and no one was injured during the incident. The police complaint charges Kirskey with burglary and larceny to commit grand theft over $1,000.
