Live From Vicenza: Ponte Vecchio’s Italian Jeweled Shoe

The 35-year-old Ponte Vecchio is an expert when it comes to making jewelry, but when it wanted to combine two Italian masterpieces—shoes and jewels—it had to tap fellow countrymen and craftsmen for assistance. Enter Lori Blu shoes, which provided the Florence-based jeweler with two pairs of size 37 python leather heels—one in a light tan color and the other in a pastel pink—to bejewel with two identical 18k gold bracelets set with complementary hues of colored stones. The final pieces can be worn around the ankles of the wearer by way of wires attached to the shoe that support the bracelets and keep them in place. And when the wearer kicks off her heels at the end of the night, she can shift the styles up to her wrists for a better view.

The shoes debuted to the local Italian media just a month ago, and this VicenzaOro Winter fair marks the pairs’ first personal appearance. That said, both are still available for purchase at €30,000.
