Live Blogging the 61st Annual Tony Awards (Part II)

And we’re back …

Performance by the cast of Curtains
I have been trying to get tickets for this for weeks. If for nothing else I have to see it out of support for a fellow Obie (Oberlin College class of ‘51 John Kander).

The lovely and married Menzel & Diggs present best musical score to Spring Awakening.

I was rooting for Curtains it would’ve been wonderful to see Ebb recognized for all of his work, all be it posthumously.

Anika Noni Rose wears the first pearls of the evening while presenting Best Performance of a Featured Actress of a Musical. They are a lovely shade of cognac to match her floor-lengthed dress.

Mary Louise Wilson takes the award for her amazing & I mean amazing performance in Grey Gardens wearing her Wonder Woman reminiscent bangles.

Phylicia Rashad (Photo by Bryan Bedder/Getty Images

Phylicia Rashad – a Broadway and television regular who in 2004 became the first African American to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, for her performance in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun introduces the 110 in the Shade performance of “Raunchy” wearing an interesting tye-die number & our first lengthy necklace of the evening with lobe-wrapping earrings.

You’ll have to excuse my technical language. I am only the assistant art director after-all.

My favorite category: choreography. (Click here to search for past winners in any category.)

Winner: Bill T. Jones

Now, I’m a fan of his work, but I was rooting for Bourne, of the all male Swan Lake & Edward Scissorhands fame.

Bebe Neuwirth, continues in the line of bare-necked presenters with modest diamond drop earrings.
