Lazar named to IDI marketing post

Ziv Lazar has been appointed the new deputy managing director for marketing of the Israel Diamond Institute. He will be responsible for marketing strategy and business promotion. He replaces David Bar-Haim Rutlinger, who served in this position for 14 years.

Lazar, 36, is an economist with extensive experience as a business development and marketing consultant for local and international companies in Israel. He has worked with a wide variety of manufacturing, financial and trading companies, including several in the diamond industry.

Born in the United States in 1969, Lazar was raised in both Israel and the U.S. From 1990 – 1998 he served in the Unit of the Financial Advisor to the IDF Chief of Staff, where he was responsible for economic affairs and budgets. From 1999 – 2001, he was head of research and business development for Colmobil, importers of Mercedes, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi in Israel. Since that time Lazar worked as an independent management consultant and project manager.

IDI has undertaken a major reorganization of its marketing and public relations functions. An expanded professional team now deals with trade shows, public relations, business development, as well as advertising and branding. Alissa Goren has been promoted to manager of public relations and trade events and is responsible for the IDI trade show participation and international events. In addition, a full time Information Officer now provides research, market profiles and business information for diamantaires.
