Large Andradite Garnet Collection at GemFair

Columbia Gem House, Inc. says it has the largest selection of Andradite Garnet ever assembled.

From the Yellow River in China, the stones have a refractive index of 1.888 and high dispersion of 0.057, the Vancouver, Wash.-based company said. Because of the high dispersion, this garnet will show red, orange, yellow, and green hues under natural light, with some color change in florescent light.

There are no large Andradite stones. In fact, most range from .25 to 1 ct., with occasional stones as large as 3 cts. They are available in most standard shapes, including round, oval, trillion, and princess cuts. Hardness is 6.5 – 7.  Prices average $20 to $50 per ct.

The gems can be seen at the AGTA GemFair in Tucson – Booths 1009 – 1011, Feb. 4 – 9, or call 800-888-2444 for more information.
