LAGOS Updates Philadelphia Flagship, Reveals Brand Overhaul

The newly renovated and reopened LAGOS jewelry boutique in Philadelphia, where the nearly 35-year-old brand is headquartered, is inspired by the jewelry itself.

“In my mind, the store is the quintessential jewelry box of the LAGOS brand,” owner and designer Steven Lagos told the press upon the flagship store’s recent reopening. “I love the richness of mixing different materials and influences, much like in the jewelry.”

Materials used include sycamore, walnut, bamboo, granite, mirrors, and lots of glass; a gold leaf ceiling reflects the signature two-tone styling of the jewelry. Designed with both contemporary Art Deco styling—mirrors and glass contribute to a chic minimalist feel—and modern aesthetics (think high-definition video walls), the space aims to subtly update the Rittenhouse Square location while retaining its boutique charm.

The redesign is part of LAGOS’ strategy to redefine the brand’s shopping experience, including a new company website featuring a ‘Things We Love’ section highlighting design inspirations, and, a ‘Perfect Style’ section that allows visitors to shop collections based on their personal taste. Additionally, the brand recently opened its first-ever shop-in-shop in Bloomingdales in King of Prussia, Pa., in an effort “to show the richness of our collections and give customers the chance to try on, touch, and feel our entire portfolio,” CEO Chris Cullen tells JCK.

Cullen calls the LAGOS shopping experience “genuine, nonintimidating, and, most importantly, personal without compromising the craftsmanship present in all pieces,” he says. “Our focus now is on widening the window for a view into our Steven’s creative mind.”
