Kriëger Watch introduces first-ever clear aluminum watch

Kriëger Watch introduces first-ever clear aluminum watch It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, but it’s real, and it’s here at The JCK Show: Krieger Watch Corp., an innovator in high-end watches, has unveiled a Swiss-made luxury mechanical watch made of transparent aluminum. Called the “Ghost,” the $8,000 oversized watch (52 mm) is the result of 2½ years development.

Clear aluminum is expensive, and difficult to work with. It takes more than 60 days to manufacture the material, and only five cases a day can be produced (using several diamond cutting tools). There are over 20 steps of mechanical, chemical polishing, drilling, stamping and assembling before the watch takes its final shape. It takes over five months to make each clear aluminum watch.
