JVC names an assistant general counsel

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee named Atty. Rebecca Halperin, JVC’s assistant general counsel. In her post, Halperin will be responsible for supervising legal cases brought by the JVC, mediation, conducting seminars and education sessions, advising industry members on legal compliance matters and investigations. Halperin started at JVC January 12.

“Rebecca is well positioned to add a great deal of her own experience to the work of the JVC,” said Cecilia Gardner, JVC’s president, CEO and general counsel in a statement issued Thursday.

Before joining JVC, Halperin worked at Kirkland & Ellis International, LLP, where she conducted client interviews and document collection; assisted expert witnesses with responses; drafted pleadings, including complaints, motions, briefs, subpoenas and protective agreements; and assisted with undercover investigations.

Haplerin graduated with honors from New York University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania. She resides in New York City.
