John Hardy Plants One Millionth Bamboo Seedling in Bali

On Aug. 4, John Hardy planted its one-millionth bamboo seedling in Bali.

The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the company’s “Wear Bamboo, Plant Bamboo” initiative. The program calls for one seedling to be planted with each purchase from the John Hardy Bamboo collection.

The one-millionth seedling was planted by CEO Robert Hanson (pictured) outside the brand’s workshop and design studio.

In a statement, Hanson said that, with this initiative, John Hardy has planted enough seedlings to cover New York City’s Central Park six times over.

The planting of bamboo helps purify air and water, and seedlings given to local families are accompanied by training in their cultivation.
