JIS Adds a Fifth Day for its October Show

At a time when much of the industry is cutting back, Jewelers International Showcase said it is adding an extra day to its normal October Show schedule.

The jewelry trade show will start a day early on Oct. 1 and run through Oct. 5, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla.

Michael G. Breslow, the producer of the show, said the response on the addition of a fifth day from exhibitors and buyers has been positive.

“What started as a solution to a scheduling conflict with the Jewish Holiday of Sukkot, has turned into a positive new idea that may be implemented at JIS’ future October Shows,” Breslow said. “We never expected to have such a positive response to our questionnaires answered by hundreds of buyers and exhibitors alike in regards to adding Thursday (a fifth day) to our October 2009 Show.”

If the new schedule proves successful, JIS said it will consider continuing it for future October Show schedules.
