Jewelry salesman robbed at gunpoint in Kansas

A jewelry salesman from New York told police he was robbed at gunpoint Thursday evening outside a Leawood, Kansas, Dean & Deluca, the Kansas City Star reported.

The man told police he was leaving the store about 5:05 p.m. when he noticed two suspicious men walking toward him in the parking lot, the newspaper reported. He turned back toward the store, but one of the men pulled out a gun, he told police.

The men took a shoulder bag that contained 400 to 500 finished gems, he said, but did not steal his wallet. Police did not know how much the jewels were worth, the newspaper reported. The robbers left in a car that a woman was driving. A complete description of the men was not available.
