The second annual Jewels for a Cure Raffle raised $13,000 for VCU Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, Va.
The event brought together 12 of Richmond’s independent retail jewelers, who each donated pieces of jewelry valued at $1,500. “It was a great experience to have 12 competing jewelry stores come together to make a contribution,” says Cheryl Fornash, raffle chair and owner of Cheryl Fornash Jewelry.
Attendees purchased raffle tickets for $25 each. “Women love jewelry and having the opportunity to win the raffle prizes certainly got them excited for a worthy cause,” says Fornash.
Combined with last year’s event, the raffle has raised more than $27,000. “A lot of the jewelers and guests, myself included, have been touched by cancer in someway,” says Fornash. “We all want to work together to help find a cure.”
