Is This Jewelry for Ants?

Have you heard the one about the ant that waltzed into the jewelry store? Apparently he was a bit of a diamond thief!

A video recently posted to YouTube (see below) shows an ant making off with a small diamond, and for obvious reasons, it’s going viral. Ants are capable of carrying 10–50 times their body weight, according to different estimates, so it’s feasible that this sneaky little critter could have gotten away with a bigger stone.

Which got me thinking about all of the other items in a jewelry store the ant may have been interested in. Remember when earring parties were all the rage? That’s because they still are. Despite the fact that we’re gearing up for a fall season to cater to maximalism (big earrings promise to be a hit), the tiny, adorable stud earrings that work so well in groups are still in high demand.

While the latest earring trends may give way to looks of a larger kind, these small studs will still find their place (after all, for those who got new piercings just to accommodate the too-good-to-resist options, you can’t expect them to wear three or more statement earrings in one ear, can you?).

Thankfully, designers keep providing new and awesome studs, so I can keep sharing them (and coveting them for my own collection, obviously).

So if the ant thief is still out there plotting his next big (er, little) heist, you might want to keep an extra special eye on your tiny treasures like these.
