Since 2016, Pure Earth has collaborated with jewelry designers and others in the industry to raise awareness about the global impact of mercury pollution from gold mining. A centerpiece of this effort is the annual Pure Gold jewelry auction, which features pieces of responsibly sourced designer jewelry—such as earrings by Dana Bronfman and Christina Malle, a ring by Mociun, and pendants by Bliss Lau and Bario Neal. Funds raised in the auction of the annual Pure Gold jewelry collection support Pure Earth’s pollution cleanup efforts around the world, including work directly with artisanal and small-scale gold mining communities to help them mine without mercury and restore land stripped by mining in the Amazon rain forest.
