JCK Jewelry Agenda: Week of Jan. 3

Happy 2021! And phew! A top contender for the worst year in history is over. We can practically hear the world’s collective sigh of relief.

Besides the big news on our radar—the new stimulus bill, the vaccine, and the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden—we’ve got some fun suggestions to help you ease into the new year.

In the latest episode of JCK’s The Jewelry District podcast, editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky and news director Rob Bates interview Stuller founder and CEO Matt Stuller, who shares his story about how a job at a retail jewelry store in his hometown of Lafayette, La., led, some 50 years ago, to the founding of one of the industry’s most important suppliers.

WJA NY Metro Book Club Night With Rob Bates: Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. ET (Virtual)

Murder Is Forever cover
A Murder Is Forever by Rob Bates

If you’re reading this on Sunday, you still have time to order a copy of A Murder Is Forever by JCK’s very own Rob Bates and read it in time to join the WJA New York Metro chapter’s Tuesday evening book club. The page-turning murder mystery, set in the heart of the city’s Diamond District, is pure fiction, but the characters, dialogue, and history have all been plucked from the author’s real-life experiences covering the diamond beat for JCK. Bonus: Bates will be on hand to answer questions.

You’re not likely to see much sparkle on ABC’s newest Bachelor, Matt James, when the next season of The Bachelor premieres Jan. 4. (Unless you count his knee-weakening smile, of course.) So what better time to catch up on the last season of The Bachelorette, which was chock-full of drama (not one but two leading ladies!) and jewelry from brands we all know and love.
