JCK Industry Fund Accepting Proposals

JCK Events, the leading producer of trade events in the fine jewelry industry and JCK Publishing Group, publishers of JCK Magazine, have announced that applications for grants from the annual JCK Industry Fund will be accepted now through Dec. 15.

The JCK Industry Fund, now in its tenth year, was established to enhance the image of the jewelry industry and to foster development and research of programs that would benefit the industry. On an annual basis this fund distributes $400,000 in grants to individuals, groups, or associations who work towards the betterment of the overall industry.

Each year, the Fund looks to award grants to exemplify one or more of the main objectives of the program:

* To improve the image of the jewelry industry in the eyes of the consumer;

* To aid jewelry industry organizations in addressing serious problems faced within the industry; and/or

* To assist internal organizations and associations in developing training materials.

“We are thrilled each year to present hundreds of thousands of dollars to industry organizations who have developed terrific programs and projects and need them funded,” said Dave Bonaparte, Group Vice President for JCK Events. “We encourage all organizations to submit proposals to be considered for these funds.”

“JCK Magazine is proud to share this annual industry funding with the JCK Show”, said Mark Smelzer, publisher of the JCK Publishing Group. “We’re proud of the impact these grants have made over the years, and we’re proud to be unique by giving on such a significant scale.”

Past winners have included Jewelers Vigilance Committee, Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers of America, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, The American Gem Trade Association, The American Gem Society, The Gemological Institute of America and The Jewelers’ Security Alliance. These organizations have used the JCK Industry Funds to find defects and luminescence properties of colored diamonds and other gems, to develop seminars for US businesses to excel in the challenges of global environment, to formulate and promote guidelines and recommendations for jewelers regarding state-of-the-art security equipment and technology, and to educate jewelry dealers about legal compliance necessities.

In order to be considered for this grant program, applicants must submit a formal proposal in writing directly to JCK Events and the JCK Publishing Group, including all of the following elements: the purpose of the grant; the amount requested; timing for allocation of monies and a plan for its allocation; historical budget data; measurable expected benefits; and an agreement outlining JCK’s right to conduct financial auditing of funds allocated to ensure suitable usage.

All applications will be reviewed and final recipients will be chosen by a Fund Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from the manufacturing and retail segment, as well as the JCK Publishing Group and JCK Events. The recipients will be chosen based on their synergy with the overall core goals and intentions of the Fund.

This complete package of information must be received by December 15, 2007.  Copies of the proposals should be sent directly to Dave Bonaparte, vice president, JCK Events, 383 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 and Mark Smelzer, publisher, JCK Publishing Group, 360 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010.
