J.C. Penney Launches Charitable Initiative

J.C. Penney has launched jcp cares, a charity program encouraging customers to donate to a new cause each month.

The program, launched on July 1, invites customers to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to the charity partner of the month.

This month, donations will support the United Service Organizations, a non-profit organization aimed at helping America’s troops and their families.

Along with customer donations, J.C. Penney will also donate $1 million to the USO as well as an additional dollar amount for each customer that checks in to J.C. Penney on Foursquare from July 23-31.

“As a company founded on the Golden Rule, jcpenney has a strong legacy of giving back,” Miki Woodard, president of jcp cares and vice president of philanthropy at J.C. Penney, said in a statement. “Through jcp cares, we’ll be able to work with our customers to address some of the most pressing issues facing our communities today.”
