Israeli Bourse Expels Trader for Smuggling

The Israel Diamond Exchange has expelled a long-time bourse member for
allegedly smuggling diamonds from the Marange region of Zimbabwe, an
Israeli Diamond Institute spokesperson confirmed.

An associate of the trader was reportedly caught leaving Ben-Gurion International Airport with $140,000 worth of non-certified rough stones in his pockets.

Exports from Marange are currently blocked under an administrative order from the Kimberley Process.
