Indonesian Chosen as 12th Language for Helzberg’s ‘I am Loved’ buttons

Helzberg Diamonds has announced that Indonesian was chosen as the 12th language for its popular “I Am Loved” button collection. More than 40,000 people cast their votes online and in-store, with Indonesian receiving 36 percent of the votes.

Currently, there are 11 languages featured on the I Am Loved button: Russian, German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, and Polish. For the 12th language, voters, In addition to Indonesian, consumers could chose among Arabic, Indonesian, Hindi, and Bengali. All of these ranked among the world’s top ten most spoken languages. Indonesian, also known as Bahasa Indonesia, is the official language of Indonesia and is spoken by 200 million people.

The vote celebrates the 40th anniversary of the I Am Loved button, which was conceived in 1967 by Barnett Helzberg Jr., third-generation president of Kansas City-based Helzberg Diamonds. Over the years, more than 50 million people worldwide have been treated to one of the free I Am Loved buttons.

Barnett created the idea of the I Am Loved button just after his true love accepted his marriage proposal. He wanted everyone to experience the joy of feeling loved. Today, free buttons are available at all Helzberg Diamonds stores. The latest button in Indonesian will roll out in April.
