The 2013 Presidents’ Meeting of the
International Diamond Manufacturers Association will take place in
Toronto, IDMA President Moti Ganz announced May 5.
Ganz said that IDMA’s Presidents’ Meeting in
Gaborone, Botswana, in April demonstrated clearly the advantages of holding the
biennial meeting in a diamond-producing country.
“Diamond manufacturers need to have a full
understanding of where the diamonds they purchase and process are mined,” Ganz
said in a statement. “Presidents’ meetings are perfect opportunities…to get to
know the countries, mines, mining locations, governmental institutions, and
companies that are involved.”
Bhushan Vora, president of the Canadian
Diamond Manufacturers Association, noted that Canada is the third-largest
producer of gem diamonds by value in the world.
