IDI increases its presence at the Hong Kong jewelry and watch fair

This year Israel Diamond Institute has upgraded its presence at the Hong Kong  Jewellery & Watch Fair, to be held from September 21 – 25, 2005. This year’s fair, the industry’s central trade show for the entire Far Eastern region, will host the largest Israeli diamond contingent of all times.

The 650 square meter IDI Israel Diamond Pavilion will host 41 Israeli manufacturers and exporters exhibiting within, and an additional 19 companies will be located elsewhere throughout the fair.
IDI also invested more efforts this year in pre-show marketing, sending out mailings to top buyers in the region. An online mini-site, which can be accessed through the Diamond-il portal site, enables buyers to visit the pavilion virtually before the fair. The mini-site includes contact details of all Israeli exhibitors, as well as a map indicating their location at the show.

Hong Kong is the second largest market for Israel’s polished diamond exports, representing about 14% of total sales. In 2004, exports of polished diamonds to Hong Kong stood at $1.4 billion, while in the first half of 2005 polished exports to Hong Kong stood at $869 million. Industry leaders see Hong Kong as the gateway to the far east, a major growth market for future Israeli diamond exports.
