The International Colored Gemstone Association is hosting the world’s first international gem show focused on the loose colored gemstone industry Oct. 13 – 15 in Dubai.

The ICA International Gem Show Dubai 2008 will be held under the patronage of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre a Dubai government initiative. Dubai is rapidly becoming recognized as the gateway for commodities to the Middle East with favorable importation duties for exhibitors and buyers.

“Our aim is to organize a show featuring the essence of the industry,” said ICA president Andrew Cody. “There are numerous large trade shows with thousands of exhibitors and many halls to walk through. This often creates a stressful environment which can tire and confuse the visitor. This show, will offer a superb business environment focused on quality colored gemstones from the world’s most prominent and ethical gemstone merchants.”

All suppliers are members of ICA, DMCC or the Dubai Gems Club.

* A global approach to gem buying where attendees will have access to a concentrated, professional networking environment for creating long-term business partnerships. There are currently no international gem and jewelry shows specific to the loose colored gemstone industry in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. 

* Several laboratories and trade organizations have confirmed space in the inaugural show. The show has filled 70 percent of its exhibit space.

* The show will take place at the Al Bustan Rotana, only 5 minutes from the airport. There will be airport pick-up service for attendees and the event will feature many amenities, including a VIP lounge, business facilities, and more than 100 displays. 

The event will kick off with a cocktail reception on Oct. 13, followed by a gala dinner Oct. 14. In addition a fashion show is planned along with other networking opportunities. The last day of the show is open to the public.
