I W Marks honored by National Council of Jewish Women

Shelly Ann and I W Marks were recently honored by the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) at the organization’s Annual Starlight Ball on Nov. 22. The honor was awarded in recognition of the couple’s generous support of the Houston, Texas, community and for their dedication to raising funds for the performing arts, various medical and health organizations, universities, and business associations. The couple own of I W Marks Jewelers in Houston.

Most recently, the Marks co-chaired the 2003 Houston Grand Opera Ball, raising one million dollars for the world-class opera company.

Mr. Marks’ commitment to his community has been nationally recognized by the Business Committee for Arts Inc. and by Forbes Magazine as a four-time recipient of its coveted Business in the Arts Award. Other honors include: the 2003 Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Houston Chapter National Philanthropy Day Award for Outstanding Corporations; Houston Business Journal’s Philanthropic Donor of the Year and many more. Shelly Ann generously contributes her time, energy and financial support to a host of non-profit organizations in the area of the arts and health/medical care and research.

I W Marks is also a member of Leading Jewelers of the World. LJW selects premier market leaders in retail jewelry for membership. As a Leading Jeweler of the World, the retail jeweler must abide by the standards and practices set forth by the Association. These include routine inspections, a myriad of compliance issues regarding training of personnel, product quality, the aesthetic experience of the store and customer care.
