HBC Appoints Tiffany Veteran Helena Foulkes as New CEO

Helena Foulkes, whose retail career began at Tiffany & Co., has become the new CEO of HBC, owner of Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Hudson’s Bay, and Gilt Groupe.

Foulkes comes from CVS Health, where she served as executive vice president of CVS Health and president of CVS Pharmacy.

Prior to joining CVS in 1992, Foulkes served a “short stint” at Tiffany & Co., according to Fortune, where she found she loved retail, as well as the company’s employee discount. At CVS, she is credited with creating the company’s ExtraCare loyalty program, as well as its  Maintenance Choice drug program.

Foulkes received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

She succeeds Richard Baker, who had been serving as interim CEO following the October departure of three-year CEO Gerald Storch. Baker will continue as the company’s governor and executive chairman.

“The future of retail will be defined by companies that think creatively about where the consumer and the world are headed,” Foulkes said in a statement. “I look forward to working with this great team and listening deeply to them and to our partners to build upon strategies that capitalize on HBC’s physical and digital assets and deepen our core operating effectiveness.”
