Gunmen stole $5 million from a diamond district wholesaler

A pair of gunmen posing as deliverymen pulled off a $5 million heist at a wholesaler in Manhattan’s Diamond District, according to media reports.

No arrests were made in the Friday robbery at Diamart Inc. on West 47th Street, police reportedly said. Because of the Purim holiday, security at the building where Diamart had its offices on the seventh floor was not as intense as usual, a tenant reportedly told the Associated Press.

A manager at the diamond wholesaler buzzed the men inside after they identified themselves via an intercom as deliverymen around 12:30 p.m., police reportedly said. Once on the seventh floor, the men put on masks and pulled handguns before looting the business of $5 million in jewels.

No one was injured in the holdup, and the bandits walked out the front door of the building with their loot, the AP reports.
