Grunstein elected JFC chairman along with new officers

Jewelers for Children the industry’s charity, has announced their annual board of director elections, including changes in officer positions. Laurence R. Grunstein, president of Citizen Watch Co. of America has been elected chairman of the board. Grunstein replaces Terry Burman of Sterling, Inc., who concluded a two-year term as chairman.

Also elected to officer positions are Mary Forté, chairman and CEO of Zale Corp., vice chair and secretary; and Efraim Grinberg, Movado Watch Group, treasurer. Other executive committee members elected are Rachel Wertheimer, JewelAmerica, Inc.; vice president for Special Programs; Lowell Kwiat, Kwiat, Inc., vice president of Marketing and Public Relations and Howard Sherwood, Daniel’s Jewelers, vice president for Fundraising. Burman will continue to serve on the executive committee and will chair the Nominating Committee.

Five new directors were elected to the board. Marvin Markman, Suberi Bros, LLC; Jerry Ehrenwald, International Gemological Institute; Susan Fortgang, M. Fabrikant and Sons, Eddie LeVian, LeVian, Inc. and William Sites, Sites Jewelers join re-elected directors Ruth Batson, American Gem Society; David Bonaparte, JCK Shows; Dana Duneier, Clyde Duneier, Inc.; Peter Engel, Fred Meyer Jewelers; Cecilia Gardner, Jewelers Vigilance Committee; Jonathan Goldman, Frederick Goldman, Inc.; Howard Hurwitz, Howard’s Jewelry; Dilip Mehta, Rosy Blue; Glenn Rothman, Hearts on Fire; and Victor Weinman, Taché USA, Inc.
