San Francisco–based jewelry designer, Jeanine Payer, known
for her silver pieces inscribed with poetry and inspiring quotes, lent her
design talents to a worldly cause this week. On March 8—the 100th anniversary
of International Women’s Day—Payer debuted a limited-edition
collection of five
pieces inscribed with poetry about resiliency and courage, with half of all
sales benefitting Mountain2Mountain, a nonprofit organization working to
empower women and girls in Afghanistan education, vocational training, life
skills, and more.
“When it’s dark you can see the stars” necklace; $310
Since the collection is dedicated to gender equity,
opportunity, and education for the women and girls of Afghanistan, jewelry
inscriptions include:
- “When it’s dark you can see the stars.” (Persian
proverb) - “For as long as it lasts let the singer
be the song. For as much as it’s worth let the truth outweigh the lies. For
this single moment in time let my own voice be heard.” (Susan Stauter) - “The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.”
(Longfellow) - “Courage, strength, and hope possess my
soul… I will stand firmly and without fear.” (Goethe) - “I am the master of my fate, I
am the captain of my soul.” (William Ernest Henle)
“Courage, strength, and hope possess my
soul… I will stand firmly and without fear” bracelet; $290
Suggested retail prices for the silver and 18k gold-accented
styles, including three necklaces, a bracelet, and a pair of earrings, range
from $210 to $450. The collection is available online at JeaninePayer.com and in the
Jeanine Payer retail store in San Francisco.
