GIA to Present at Abu Dhabi Pearl Conference

The Gemological Institute of America announced Nov.3 that it
will participate in two gem and jewelry events in Abu Dhabi: the Nov. 14
International Pearl Conference and the Nov. 10–14 International Jewellery &
Watch Show.

The event at the International Pearl Conference, titled “Pearls, Gems & Jewellery,” was developed by the nonprofit Pearl Revival
Committee to encourage renewed interest in pearls in the Middle East. The conference will be presented under the patronage of Her
Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation” of the United Arab
Emirates.

GIA will offer 11 free sessions during JWS, which will be
held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Seung-Hae Moon, GIA managing
director of education, Asia Pacific, will present three seminars on pearls. The
remaining sessions will cover diamond and jewelry basics as well as diamond and
gem treatments.

GIA will also host two lab classes in conjunction with the
International Jewellery & Watch Show at the Higher Colleges of Technology’s
Abu Dhabi Women’s College.
