The Gemological Institute of America Thailand will celebrate its 25th Gemstone Gathering on June 24 at the Tawana Hotel in Bangkok. Dr. Dietmar Schwarz, research manager, Gübelin Gem Laboratory, Lucerne, Switzerland, will give the lecture “Colored Gemstones – Mines to Markets,” which will address commercially traded colored gemstones like ruby and spinel; gem-producing countries and the regions from which these stones are recovered; and, the importance of gemstones to the local mining communities and the wider market in general.
“Dr. Schwarz is a well-respected gemologist who carries a wealth of knowledge on many different aspects of colored gemstones,” Kenneth Scarratt, managing director, GIA Southeast Asia, and director, GIA Laboratory in Bangkok, told the media. “We welcome him to GIA Thailand’s Gemstone Gathering, an event that continues to provide the latest gemological information and research.”
