GIA classes available in January on both coasts and online

The Gemological Institute of America has gemological classes on both coasts, as well as basic jewelry repair in Southern California. GIA School of Business courses will also commence online and at GIA headquarters in Carlsbad. All classes are scheduled to start in January.

At GIA’s new location in Los Angeles’ Culver City area, students have limited time to enroll in the On Campus Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma program beginning Jan. 14. This is the only G.G. program in the U.S. in January with seats still available. Classes are otherwise filled through May 2005 in the U.S. Students will learn the skills they need to succeed in the industry in positions such as buyer, appraiser, retailer, or manager. To enroll in any GIA Los Angeles class or program, call 866-702-2088, or outside the U.S., call 310-670-2100.

The Institute’s Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad has added a Basic Repair & Setting Extension class, to be held Jan. 31 – Feb. 4, 2005. The introductory class provides students with hands-on training at fully equipped workbenches. Among the skills that will be taught: jewelry tool fundamentals, ring sizing, quality craftsmanship identification, and evaluation.

GIA School of Business on campus and Distance Education Online courses begin Jan. 13, 2005, with Accounting Basics, Ethics and Law, Fundamentals of Marketing, and Principles of Management. These are the four core classes; a number of electives are available both online and on campus.

To enroll in these and other GIA classes and seminars, or to request more information, call 800-421-7250, ext. 4001, or 760-603-4003, ext. 4001. E-mail eduinfo@gia.edu for details on the Institute’s Education programs, or visit www.gia.edu.

GIA New York has a few seats left in the first Diamond Grading Extension class in 2005, being held Jan. 3–7. The class teaches students to grade diamonds accurately using the International Diamond Grading System created by the Institute. To enroll in New York Extension classes, call 800-366-8519, ext. 3063, or 212-944-5900, ext. 3063.
