GIA Alumni Receive Global Awards

Two Gemological Institute of America alumni were recently honored for their leadership and service to the gem and jewelry industry.

The recipients of this year’s GIA Global Alumni Awards, presented at the annual GIA Alumni Association dinner held in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 3, are Gail Brett Levine, graduate gemologist, and Lanis Mosher, accredited jewelry professional.

Levine, who received the 2012 International Leadership Award, has worked in the jewelry trade for 40 years. She has also served as an officer in the Manhattan GIA Alumni Association Chapter since 1982. Mosher has been a retailer for more than 12 years and a member of the Ontario Chapter since its founding two years ago.

“The Institute commends Gail and Lanis for their continued dedication to the association,” Kate Donovan, GIA alumni relations manager, said in a statement. “The awards program was created to foster and inspire the alumni network, which includes 60 chapters worldwide. We thank these individuals for their enthusiasm and support of the organization.”
