Georg Jensen names new head of retail operations

Retail executive Larry Barkley has joined Georg Jensen to head retail operations, the international luxury goods retailer said Tuesday. Barkley will oversee Georg Jensen boutiques in Manhattan, Greenwich, Short Hills, and Las Vegas; lead the reopening of the company’s Chicago location; and spearhead a national retail expansion effort.

Gerog Jensen said in a statement that Barkley’s appointment is an effort to continue the retailer’s sales momentum and success in the fine jewelry category.

“Larry Barkely is an exceptionally talented and experienced retail executive whose unique skill set and deep understanding of the jewelry industry will be a tremendous asset to our U.S. operation,” said Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, chief executive officer and president of Georg Jensen.

Barkley was formerly the national retail director at Bulgari where he managed the company’s two flagship stores and ten retail boutiques. Prior to Bulgari, he held positions with Saks Fifth Avenue and several other leading national retailers.

Founded in Denmark in 1904, Georg Jensen has more than 100 stores in 12 countries.
