Jewelers Vigilance Committee announced that Cecilia L. Gardner has been named president and CEO of the trade association. She will continue as general counsel. This change is effective immediately. Gardner’s new title reflects her numerous contributions to JVC and the jewelry industry, JVC said in a statement.
“Since Cecilia joined JVC in 1998, she has enhanced the association’s role as the legal compliance expert and leader for the jewelry industry,” said Laurence R. Grunstein, chairman of JVC’s Board of Directors and president of Citizen Watch Company of America, Inc. “Jewelry retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors rely on JVC for legal compliance guidance. And, as a former anti-money laundering prosecutor, Cecilia used her knowledge and experience to develop JVC’s USA PATRIOT Act Compliance Kit (PACK) for jewelry businesses that have to comply with recent AML regulations.”
“I am honored,” Gardner said, “And look forward to continuing to lead JVC in its mission to maintain the jewelry industry’s highest ethical standards.”
