FTC to Enforce Red Flags Rule June 1st

According to the Jewelers Vigiliance Committee, the FTC will begin enforcement of the federal Red Flags Rule on June 1st, which requires certain jewelry businesses that extend credit (to consumers or to other businesses) to implement a written Identity Theft Prevention Program.

The FTC had postponed an earlier enforcement date at the request of Congress, which is considering changes to the law. No further delays have been announced and the FTC is adhering to the June 1st enforcement deadline.
