Friday 5: My Picks for Best Bejeweled at the 2012 Academy Awards

Despite the varying opinions concerning last Sunday night’s Academy Awards show (I personally thought it had a fun, vintage vibe), the red carpet certainly did not disappoint. Our favorite celebs were out in full force and showing off their colorful couture, beautiful faces, and, of course, their jewels! I was ecstatic to see the abundance of diamonds this go-round, so take a look at my top five best-dressed (and accessorized) ladies from this year’s Oscars—and five ways to get the look with these great designs from Marketplace.

 Norman Silverman's Diamond Riviera Necklace

1. Michelle Williams

Ms. Williams beautifully channeled Marilyn Monroe with her subtle yet dazzling accents. These included a 30 ct. diamond necklace from Fred Leighton for Forevermark and a beautiful bow brooch pinned at the hip of her coral Louis Vuitton dress. I appreciated how she left her ears bare and let the diamonds around her neck speak for themselves.

 Rahaminov's Diamond Cluster Earrings

2. Penélope Cruz

Penélope oozed of old Hollywood glamour, decked out in an off-the-shoulder Armani Privé. The ensemble was completed with breathtaking Chopard jewels, together totaling more than 114 cts. t.w. The look seemed so flawless and effortless; I fell in love at first glance!

Sasha Primak's Diamond Bangle

3. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth was a vision in white, but the ensemble would not have been complete without that dazzling diamond cuff. Dripping with 163 cts. t.w., the Anna Hu bracelet was an absolute showstopper.

4. Natalie Portman

While Natalie’s vintage Dior gown wasn’t my favorite, I admired the effort to be different on the red carpet. It was the sparkler on her neck that held my gaze—the Harry Winston collar necklace caught just the right amount of light to warrant sunglasses. I couldn’t look away!

China Art and Jewelry's Amethyst Ring

5. Miss Piggy

I may be a bit biased because she’s somewhat of a personal hero, but how many other pigs do you know that manage to look so fabulous? Her Royal Pigness got my vote for best-dressed woman, er, swine, on the red carpet. Piggy also dazzled in Fred Leighton jewels, giving Michelle Williams a run for her money.
