Fresh Florals for the New Year

At this time of the year, which is traditionally devoted to fresh starts, is there anything lovelier than the delight of fresh blooms? Perhaps eager for the warmer temperatures and gentler breezes of spring, designers have introduced blooms that can raise spirits through the chilliest winter days. On fabrics, bold botanical patterns reign; in jewelry, matching blooms are often worn in profusion.

Elle magazine highlights “Power Flowers” in its December 2011 issue. Among other designs are featured an elaborate lacquer ring with diamonds and spinels from Dior Fine Jewelry. Notice also the flowers of amethyst and agate trimming sunglasses from Bulgari.

The January 2012 issue of Marie Claire assembles a montage of florals “not intended as wallflower-wear.” Amid the bright prints is a chunky chain necklace adorned with flowers from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Seen to the far right is a segment of a necklace from Judy Gelb + alpha, which relates to a feature on iridescent effects.

The January 2012 issue of Allure deems the new florals “Laura Ashley on acid.” The featured jewelry consists of a Lanvin brass necklace featuring two large blooms bedecked with Swarovski crystals, and a brass and gold cuff with freshwater pearls and moonstones from Jo-Jo for Style Folio.

Actress Kirsten Dunst is profiled in the January 2012 issue of Lucky, which includes this photo of the actress wearing a crystal-studded flower bracelet from Miu Miu and a Swarovski crystal and silver-plated necklace from Fallon, obscured, with a floral appliquéd organza dress from Valentino.

In the December 2011 issue of Marie Claire, actress Lizzie Olsen is pictured in a photograph that extends over two pages, showing her wearing a Chanel Fine Jewelry cuff and matching brooch with a dress and vest by Chanel.

Actress Felicity Jones wears a floral double cuff bracelet from Atelier Swarovski by Mary Katrantzou in this photo from the November 2011 issue of Elle. She also wears a David Yurman ring with a jacket from Sonia Rykiel and shorts from Fendi.

The November 2011 issue of Vogue focused on floral print pants, also highlighting a flower-bedecked cuff from Blydesign.

This season, Prada is promoting a suite of jewelry adorned with highly dimensional roses. The model in this current ad wears matching necklace, cuffs and hair ornament.

A variation of the Prada necklace is pictured in the December 2011–January 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

That same issue of Harper’s Bazaar highlights a variation of the chunky chain necklace adorned with flowers from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, as seen above.

A current ad for the De Beers Wildflower Collection pictures a suite of five-petal flowers—single blossoms at each ear, a pair of posies on a ring, and a linear extension of flowers dangling in a Y shape from a fine, blossom-bedecked chain.

Bloomingdale’s ad in the December 2011–January 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar features a double-blossom drop earring in sterling silver and 18k gold from Buccellati.

The December 2011 issue of InStyle presents a bouquet of floral options: a sterling silver pendant necklace from Memento Mori; a silver-plated necklace from NC Bis by Nancy Caten; a gold-plated necklace from Style Folio Jewelry; a glass stone and metal bracelet from Ann Taylor; a gold vermeil ring from Melanie Auld; a rhinestone and rhodium-plated ring from Girlprops.com; Swarovski crystal and oxidized silver-plated earrings from Miriam Haskell, sterling silver studs from Giles & Brother; and crystal and metal studs from R.J. Graziano.

Whatever your style, this winter you can find floral jewelry designs that hold the promise of spring.
