Full Moon Tonight! Time to Check Out Freida Rothman’s Celestial Collection

Today seemed like just the right time to shine a light on what Brooklyn, N.Y.–based jewelry designer Freida Rothman has on offer for spring/summer 2020. Called the Celestial collection, it’s intended to echo the transition of time, the expanse of the universe, and the grit and glamour of Brooklyn (an eternal source of inspiration for the designer).

Orbs, stars, mystical good luck charms, and elliptical planetary silhouettes are presented with turquoise—a nod to the sky—and mother-of-pearl to capture the luminous rays of the moon and the mysteries and beauty it emits night after night.

You’ll also note the use of CZ, which helps with the Celestial collection’s affordability (good, since Rothman’s whole thing is about stacking bracelets and rings). But why not white sapphire or white topaz?

Rothman says her retail partners (e.g., Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale’s) love the collection—and appreciate that the CZ  lands the product in an incredible price bracket.

“It’s that perfect white space that lives in between your David Yurman and Kendra Scott,” says Rothman. “Stores were looking for that self-purchasing, high-fashion collection. I choose to work with CZ because I want my price points to stay from $250 to $550. That price point is what really helps skyrocket the success in stores.”

Earrings are a standout, mixing Rothman’s industrial chic blackened silver with bright gold and an array of gemstones or radiating classic, albeit stealth, luxury with the gold metal and pavé and step-cut CZ on its own.

“It is elevated fashion that can be stacked and layered with your fine jewels,” says Rothman, the bracelets below being a great example of how the pieces can mix with each other or an existing stack. (See also her three-in-one stacking rings up top.)
