Florida Jewelry Store Employee Arrested for Internal Theft

A Florida jewelry store employee was arrested March 30 on 13
felony charges in connection with stealing jewelry from her employer.

Karen Marie Fisher was arrested for allegedly stealing
$20,748 worth of jewelry from The Watch Doctor in Port Charlotte, Fla.,
according to a Port Charlotte County Sheriff’s office press release.

The store owner reported several pieces of jewelry missing
from the store on Feb. 22 and contacted police. Detectives were said to have
found Fisher had made several transactions since Dec. 1 at two Port Charlotte
pawn shops. The owner of The Watch Doctor reportedly identified the jewelry at
the pawn shops.

According to the press release, video allegedly showed Fisher
cleaning the top of a showcase, reaching in, taking an item, and putting it in
her purse.

Fisher is charged with five counts of theft by an employee,
four counts of dealing in stolen property, and four counts of giving false
verification to a pawnbroker. She remains in jail on a $42,500 bond.
